The roots of Western philosophy lie in Africa, particularly in ancient Egypt and Babylonia. Ideas from thsoe places found their way, by means of the Mediterranean sea trade, to Greece, Italy, and Turkey. Thus, some 2,500 years ago. Western philosophy grew up in Europe, and then spread to the rest of the world.
