    Description:

We have a group of former Unilever executives who meet every Tuesday since 2004. From time to time, other former Unilever executives with their friends would join our regular lunch meeting. Topics discussed range from ex-Unilever executives’ whereabouts, present activities, current issues, and pressing problems in government and in the private sector.

Our Tuesday Group came up with the idea of “Back-Giving” as one way we can help our country. I turned the idea into print and distributed copies to our friends for further dissemination (2004). We made arrangements with some newspaper dealers to insert the article in the newspapers they were distributing. When the country turned VAT/E-VAT/R-VAT into a hot issue (2005), I decided to write about graft and corruption and tax audit/tax amnesty as a way to increase revenues. I thought that the best way to reach people in government was to write directly to them.

After the first article saw print in one newspaper, I decided to write on the other topics which I believe can help our government and our country. A year after, I decided to compile these articles together with other poems and essays.

Here then is the “Book with Three Titles,” which I am dedicating to the Filipino people and to our country – the Philippines.
