Rudyard A. Avila III


Biography

Dean Rudyard A. Avila III obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines College of Law and took his Bachelor of Science degree from U.P. Diliman. He taught Constitutional Law, the law on Public Officers and Election Law, as well as Obligations and Contracts and Persons and Family Relations, among other subjects at the U.P. College of Law where he was Professorial Lecturer and Assistant Professor. He has been active with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines' and the U.P. Law Center's Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Program. He was Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines; Chairperson and Editor in Chief of the Philippine Law Journal and remains active in the U.P. Law Center's committees drafting Answers for the Bar Examination Questions in Political Law and Civil Law. Dean Avila is a member of the Philippine Bar in the active practice of law. Dean Avila is a partner of the law firm ACERON AVILA VEHEMENTE & DEL PRADO LAW OFFICES, where one of his major areas of practice is ELECTION LAW. In 2003, he was made Dean of the College of Law of Araullo University. He is the author of numerous journal articles in law and "public policy and the law" and has authored a book on Psychological Incapacity. At UP law, he was a consistent scholar and officer and member of the law honor society, The Order of the Purple Feather. He represented the Philippines as part of the U.P. Law Debating Team for the World Universities Debating Championships in Oxford University, England in 1991 and the European Parliamentary Debating Championships in 1992.
